Unique Intuition by Lady-Tori Unique Intuition by Lady-Tori
I honestly have no idea what this thing is. I caug ht a glimpse of it when I was on Herm Island and figured it was intriguing enough for a picture. It's been hovvering around my pictures folder for months now and finally decided to do something with it last night.

Enjoy!

Absolutely Beautiful! And you are doing it without your macro lense. That takes skills! I know I'm not as skilled as you are at photography. :)

Great shot.

They look like milkweed seeds to me but a little smaller...

might be some sort of thistle

I wonder how they line up like.

I did some research and my guess is that those are the seeds of some kind of willowherb. Well, looks like it could belong to that plant group anyway. I could be wrong too.

Anyways: beautiful shot! Love the colours and the way it looks so fragile.

winner! I was looking at this thinking 'Gee, that looks like fireweed' and lo and behold, fireweed is part of the willow herb family! it looks like the seeds of the great willow herb start off yellow and turn black gradually [link]

willow herb is largely considered a weed as it's hardy as hell and grows anywhere it can, but some people grow it in their gardens. In London after world war II it grew all over the places that had been bombed, though at the time people kind of appreciated it because it was nice splash of color. it can and has been used as a sweetener by North American first nations, and has some anti-inflammatory properties. the young shoots can be eaten as well, and the honey produced is said to be rich and spicy. you can even eat the roots.

anyway, this is a beautiful shot, I am an absolute fiend for macro photography. when I first saw it in thumbnail, I thought it was like a microscopic venus fly trap, or a jellyfish-like creature with some form of rudimentary teeth... probably because of the color haha. I like that the subject is very simple, and the effect of this simplicity is amplified with the use of minimal color and plenty of clean bright white, and yet the subject is also so intricate and complex, you can see every tiny shining black seed, every delicate white fiber holding it up. I also really like the very selective use of focus, and will be appalled if this doesn't get a DD. awesome work! sorry for blathering!
