Oh, what a darling little thing I'm sure this little cat is so, so grateful that you rescued her (him? XD). I'm so sorry the other one couldn't be saved, but well done in doing what you can to help out! <3
Aww. Reminds me of the one my friend brought me a couple months or so ago. She found him wandering the streets no more than a couple of weeks old. He was terribly skinny with a poor coat, a leg I thought might have to be amputated because he wasn't using it at all, all the fur and skin scraped off his chin, and full of fleas. If she hadn't found him, he'd have died for sure.
Now he's nearly tripled in size, his leg is fine, and he's a perfectly healthy romping kitten.
I think they mean that the kitten was in really bad shape, and she hasn't made a full recovery yet. They're still nursing her back to health. So the kitten is still fighting to live. Maybe he/she is underweight, and probably has a bit of an infection, depending on what sort of water he/she was in :c

This reminds me of this cute little kitten my friend recently found, in a box in the street. Their currently weening him, he is only 3 weeks. They named him Squirtle. I almost got to keep him after he was taken care of, but I have severe allergies to cats. I love them oh so much though. <3
